between the hectic, busy schedules and constantly being shuffled along from one performance stage to the next, chanyeol still manages to catch jongin off guard and surprise him with a small valentine’s event that chanyeol had spent every spare moment planning in the past few weeks.
jongin can’t help the wide smile spreading across his face as he follows the little path of white candles and bright red rose petals sprinkled along the wooden floors of their empty dorm, the trail ending in the dining room where chanyeol is standing by the dinner table with a huge teddy bear half his size, a giant pink velvet bow tied around the stuffed animal’s neck.
“what is this?” jongin grins as he glances down at the fancy steak dinner for two, eyes traveling over the delicate silverware and the bottle of wine settled off to the side. a warm, bubbly feeling tingles throughout his chest, radiating out all the way down his arms and legs to the tips of his fingers and toes.
and jongin feels kind of guilty because he had completely overlooked the fact that it was already february, and hadn’t even thought to prepare anything for chanyeol in the midst of all the chaos of the back to back award ceremonies and whatnot.
“happy valentine’s day,” chanyeol smiles shyly, sticking out the teddy bear and hiding half of his face behind the fluffy fur, the tips of his ears burning crimson.
“thank you,” jongin breathes, sliding his hands over chanyeol’s, letting his fingers linger over chanyeol’s soft skin before accepting the bear and hugging it tight. jongin buries his nose into the doll, inhaling the light sent of chanyeol’s cologne clinging to the little furs.
“i’m so sorry, i…” jongin begins to say, but chanyeol interrupts him mid-sentence.
“don’t apologize,” chanyeol shakes his head, wide eyes filled with earnestness. “i didn’t do this to make you feel bad.”
jongin chews on his lower lip, letting a few seconds of silence pass, before relenting. “okay,” jongin smiles, hugging the bear tighter. “i won’t say i’m sorry for being a total jerk and forgetting that it’s valentine’s day and not preparing anything for you when you went out of your way to do all of this for me, which, everything is amazing, by the way.”
“why do i get the feeling i’ve just been one-upped?” chanyeol smiles back, bemused.
jongin shrugs, placing the teddy bear down beside his chair and making his way around the table to close the distance between himself and chanyeol.
“you’re too good to me,” jongin whispers, lips ghosting over chanyeol’s as he wraps his arms around the elder’s waist.
“silence, you,” chanyeol says softly, eyes fluttering shut as he meets with jongin’s warm, plush lips, sliding his hands up jongin’s chest and lacing his fingers at nape of the younger’s neck.
the kiss is soft, sweet, unhurried, filled with lingering touches and gentle caresses that leave jongin feeling hot and breathless nevertheless.
chanyeol pulls back first, jongin subconsciously following him forward. and when jongin opens his eyes, his vision is slightly unfocused. seeing the younger’s dazed look, chanyeol lets out a breathy laugh, placing another quick peck on jongin’s lips before resting their foreheads together.
“so,” chanyeol says as jongin tightens his arms around chanyeol’s waist, shifting from foot to foot and swaying their bodies to their own quiet music that only the two can hear. “i haven’t actually tasted the food yet. so don’t come crying to me if you get, like, a stomachache or anything.”
jongin snorts, burying his face into the crook of chanyeol’s neck.
yeah, definitely special, this one.
